Many local bands have aspirations to pack their gear into a smelly van and hit the road for places unknown to tour the country.  This week’s guest is living out that dream.  Listen in as Andy from the Wisconsin reggae-rock band T.U.G.G. calls into the show from somewhere in the Nevada desert to talk about their current tour as well as their new album Come Sunrise… From the benefits of meeting people on the road to the temperamental weather of the Midwest, Courtney and Andy discuss it all.

Video: T.U.G.G. “Insider Iowa”

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Reggae group T.U.G.G. from La Crosse, WI recently played a show in Ames, IA at DG’s Taphouse.  This is a video from Insider Iowa of them playing acoustic versions of some of their songs as well as discussing their upcoming release which should show up sometime this year.

Editor’s Note: I had the privilege to sit in and play sax with them for a set over at the Downtime Bar on the University of Minnesota campus last Saturday night and had a great time.  Incredibly nice, down-to-earth guys who happen to hail from my hometown.  It was refreshing to talk shop with them as well as the fellas from Goulash, Zacc from The Limns, and Peewee Dread who played an impromptu set.  Hope to see T.U.G.G. head back to MN soon.

You know those commercials for Corona?  The ones where people are kicking back on the beach, anonymously drinking beer?  Well the western Wisconsin reggae-funk band T.U.G.G. very well could create the soundtrack for them, if they ever had one.  Toes in the sand, margarita in hand, this Sublime-influenced band will make any midwestern winter a warm and sunny one.
