Show Review: The Aquabats at the Triple Rock March 13

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Hey kids!  This is Courtney reporting from the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, MN and The Aquabats show has just wrapped up for the night.  Hundreds of loyal cadets filled the venue for an outstanding and wildly energetic show.  I met a lot of new friends, enjoyed a few beers, and snapped some photos of some of the costumed superfans.  MNSKA band The Prizefighters got the night started by playing their signature soul-infused rocksteady and the child-like hip-hop stylings from locals Koo Koo Kanga Roo had the entire crowd smiling.  Earlier in the day, The Aquabats performed 2 sets at the Target Center across town, then motored down to the Triple Rock to play their third set of the day!  It was a sensory-melting multimedia experience that allowed everyone to have a great time…except for the poor kid who left in the ambulence (YIKES!).

Anyway, let’s hope for more great MNSKA shows like this one in the near future.  Check out our SHOWS page and get off your seat and strap on the dancing shoes…it’s time to PARTY!

Aquabats post an update about their next album

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Ska-powered superheroes The Aquabats have posted some updates on their website about their next album.  I’ll let the crew speak for themselves:

With a possible title for the next album already being thrown around, The Aquabats are busy working toward their next masterpiece!! “It will be a beauty!”, says Crash Mclarson, the Aquabats AKA ‘The little ray beam of positive Light’. “Everything the band is doing right now is like little golden cookies and I cant help but feeling so lucky to be part of the greatest band in the world!”, Crash gushes. It looks like things are really going to be great from now on, and it’s a good sign that Crash is working so hard to make sure this will be the best new record the Aquabats work on this Year.

The guys also address a specific incident that happened in Denver, CO during a ska festival:

Speaking of which, we apologize for the slow updates this past month but the Aquabats band management and booking agency have been working hard to make sure all the bands get paid and are compensated for their participation in the big ‘SKA’ fest show in Denver last month. It seems a fiasco arose when the young plucky promoter got in over her head and made too many deals with very little to back herself up. It was an unfortunate situation at a really awesome and fun event. It happens sometimes. It just does. And even though we got thrown under the bus for actually accepting the large offer to headline the show, and then actually expecting to be paid close to what we were promised (oh!…the audacity!…of HOPE!), we want to thank all the fans that stood by us and didn’t doubt our integrity. Not even for a second. When we say, “we will work something out..’. we meant it.. and our friends know it!

You can read the full update on their OFFICIAL WEBSITE.  The band last released Charge!!! in 2005.
