Babylon Party Machine (aka Matt Wixson) recently joined NY band The Forthrights on stage in Chicago to perform their mashup song “Did It All For The Reggae.”  The mashup is off the Babylon Party Machine recent EP called Mash Up Bashment and mashes the song “Other People” by the Forthrights with the song “Nookie” by Limp Bizkit.  Doing his best Fred Durst impression, Matt Wixson hopped on stage for a rare live treat.   It’s amazing how late 90′s crappy rap-rock mixes so well with laid back reggae grooves. Hey kids!  Courtney here to give you a little update on the Midwest Ska Moment podcast.  In recent weeks I have been very busy with work, vacations, etc.  Last week, I learned that Jon Brenner, my mentor, friend, and former swim coach lost his battle with brain cancer and went home for a few days to mourn and comfort old friends and family members.  With all of this happening, I decided to take a small week-long break from the podcast.

Doing a daily podcast takes a bunch of time and effort.  Some of you might know this, but it takes a great deal of time to contact bands, obtain music and band bios, record, edit audio, posting it on iTunes and on this site all on my own.  I totally appreciate your continued listenership and support.  I encourage you to continue to give me feedback about the show so that I can bring you the best podcast.  Become a fan of us on FACEBOOK, follow me on TWITTER, and EMAIL me your thoughts and suggestions.

MNSKA band 2 Tone Runts have just posted a video update to bring fans up to speed with what they’ve been cooking up.  The new year has brought the 2 Tone Runts a new band member!  Meet Dan Weides, their new guitarist/organist straight outta California.  The band has been busy working on some new songs for the follow-up to their 2009 album On The Front Line and have a show coming up January 29th, 2010 at the Red Sea in Minneapolis, MN.

This Wausau, WI skacore punk band was featured on today’s episode of the Midwest Ska Moment.  This is Atrocity Solution‘s first music video for the song “Down The Alleyway” from their Tomorrow’s Too Late album.  Enjoy!

The premiere of the Midwest Ska Moment podcast will be Monday, November 23rd.  This podcast will feature one ska or reggae band from the Midwest in each episode where I talk a little bit about the band and showcase one of their songs.  Each episode is under 10 minutes long and every drop of music featured is from local artists and bands native to the Midwest.  A perfect little pick-me-up you can listen to each and every weekday!

Hey everybody!  This is Courtney from MNSka.com and I’d like to announce that I am creating a new podcast called Midwest Ska Moment.  The show will be premiering soon and will be posted every weekday.  Each episode will feature a ska or reggae band from the midwest and one the band’s songs.

It seems that every week I hear of a different ska band that ends up blowing me away.  I feel that ska music from the midwest is incredibly talented and doesn’t seem to get the same recognition as the bands on the east coast or west coast.  This is my attempt at putting the spotlight on these great bands and hopefully introducing them to a whole new audience.
