MNSKA band The Dropsteppers are currently on tour through East Coast and Canada, ultimately playing at the Montreal Ska Festival. The video has the band performing their song “Why Did I Refuse” from their debut album Get Up In It! on Megalith Records at a show in Minneapolis prior to the tour.
Calling out to ska fans in the Twin Cities Metro Area! This weekend has not 1, but 2 gigantic shows for you to get down to!
On Saturday, April 14th, Chicago soul-reggae group Deal’s Gone Bad are back at the Triple Rock Social Club for an 18+ show that is perfect for those in the mood to dance. Last year, the band packed the club and showed Minneapolis some of that Windy City soul. MNSKA band The Prizefighters will be bringing their authentic Jamaican ska tunes along with MNSKA band The Dropsteppers, with some dynamite early-reggae. Doors are at 9pm for this night of Megalith Records and Jump Up Records artists!
The weekend isn’t over yet, because legendary Two-Tone all-stars The English Beat will be making a tour stop at The Cabooze on Sunday, April 15th. Opening the 18+ show are our own local legends, MNSKA Umbrella Bed, who are ready to rock with new songs that will command you to dance.
Congratulations to our lucky winners Lori Cherne, Adam Vermillion, and Amanda Riley who will each be taking a friend along to the show on Sunday!
Since I’m not that great of a writer and I’m a bit lazy, I’m letting Jordan Porter write this show announcement. Let’s face it, he’s better than I am:
This, my friends, is the stuff of legends. Pure solid gold. Absolute, 5-Airhorns-a-blazin’ lunacy. On February 11, New York City Ska seminal skankers The Toastersreturn for a 31st year of enlisting 15 year old kids into the 2-Tone Army (a-hey! a-hey!). Helping these elder statesmen out in the department of heavy hitting monster reggae will be two scorching local groups ready to turn your hips into jelly.
The Dropsteppers, fresh off their 2011 Megalith Records debut “Get Up in It!”, will supply you with their trademark soulful lamentations, with that added Perez Bros kick to take it up two notches.
The Prizefighters, having just released their vinyl-only special edition of “Follow My Sound” on Jump Up! Records, will make you about half an inch shorter from all the cartilage-grinding your knees will joyfully succumb to.
