Show Announcement: Moving To Pluto, Hardcore Crayons, Airwave Bandits 1/6/10

There’s a big MNSKA show happening this week to warm you up during this sub-zero winter.  On Wednesday, January 6th 2010, head over to The Depot Coffee House in Hopkins, MN to see the reunited Airwave Bandits, Moving To Pluto, Hardcore Crayons and local indie-pop group Whosah.  This ALL AGES show is only $4 and the music will get started around 6:30 pm.  Get out to the show and shake those mid-winter blues!

Show Announcement: Airwave Bandits FINAL SHOW – August 12th

MNSka band Airwave Bandits have announced their final show is this Wednesday, August 12th at The Depot Coffeehouse in Hopkins, MN.  The band’s drummer Keegan Curry is going off to college at the end of the month, so the band will be on an indefinite hiatus.  Come down and celebrate the Bandits, as the show will be ALL AGES with Doors opening at 7:30 pm.  Cover charge is only $3.  MNSka wishes the band good luck in their future endeavors and hope to see them play sometime in the future.

South High students Zach McCormick (Airwave Bandits), Joe McKenzie and Aaron Mayer created “21 and Under: The TCU and the Minneapolis All Ages Music Scene,” a video about the TC Underground, a Minneapolis All Ages venue, and its demise. They produced the piece with help from the Minneapolis Television Network (MTN) through the Voices program.  The video features interviews with MNSka notables such as the 2 Tone Runts, Tim Aderhold (Airwave Bandits) and Aaron Porter (The Prizefighters, GYLBOTS).

Show Announcement: Airwave Bandits CD RELEASE

MNSka band Airwave Bandits have announced their CD Release show!  The boys wrapped up recording in February and have been mixing for the past few months, but will finally be releasing it to the public.  The all-ages show will be on June 5th at the Aldrich Fallout Shelter (3501 Aldrich Ave S, Minneapolis, MN).  The doors will be open at 7 pm with music kicking off around 7:30 pm.  Opening acts include local high-school rapper Cay-riss and electro-rockers We Valedictorians.  Cover is only $3, but bring some extra to pick up the new Airwave Bandits T-Shirts, Stickers, and of course the new album.

Show Announcements

Hello MNSka-ers!  This weekend has some good shows in store.  There are two shows at Eclipse Records tonight.  At 6:30, Zero’s Heroes plays.  The cost is $4.  At 7:00, then, begins the big show of the evening.  Rocksteady Breakfast and Panel of Experts take the stage alongside rock bands Born For The Gallows and Corporate Distortion.  That show is also $4.  Four bands for four dollars is a pretty good deal, so go check it out!

Tomorrow night, Airwave Bandits take the stage at The Depot Coffeehouse.  The music starts at 10 p.m. and the cost is $4.  The Bandits are playing on the tail end of a night full of music, with a variety of musical acts taking the stage.

Two-Tone Weekend (Feb 13 – 14)

There is a big ska weekend coming up at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis.  Not only are there 2 nights of Two-Tone ska, but it is where you can pick up the MN Ska Mix Tape Volume One!  Legendary NYC band The Toasters are back in town on Friday, February 13th with a couple of great MNSka opening bands, including ska veterans Umbrella Bed and the rocksteady sounds of the Prizefighters.  Saturday night features MN Ska bands 2 Tone Runts and Airwave Bandits, with special guests, local hip-hop act The Blend, who are on their “Two Tone Tour.”  So come down to the Triple Rock for Two-Tone weekend and check out the great local and national acts, but make sure to take home your very own copy of the MN Ska Mix Tap Volume One!

This weekend is packed with MNSka shows.  Tonight, Airwave Bandits perform alongside local Hip-Hop powerhouse The Blend at The Depot.  The cost for the show is $4, and music starts at 9p.m.

Also tonight, Duluth ska-punkers Mikey Talented share the stage with fellow Duluth ska-rockers Coal Car Caboose at The Boathouse in Ely.  Music is at 9, and there’s no cover–so if you’re in the Twin Ports area, check it out.

And finally, The Hat Trick Lounge hosts the Skaliticians and Zero’s Heroes tomorrow night from 4-7 p.m. as part of the Eric Shaw’s Saturday All Ages Showcase.
