Contest: Cherry Poppin’ Daddies Prize Pack

MNSKA.com is proud to present our latest contest courtesy of Rock Ridge Music.  The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies have released a brand new full length album Susquehanna and a compilation of all of their ska tunes called Skaboy-JFK.  In honor of this occasion, MNSKA.com and Rock Ridge Music are giving away both albums, along with an out-of-print signed 7″ vinyl split with Reel Big Fish entitled Vacationing In Palm Springs!

Video: Less Than Jake November Tour Promo

Vinnie, the Less Than Jake drummer, takes some time to soak in the nice warm Florida weather before the upcoming Fall/Winter tour.  Although the soundtrack harkens back to the movie Deliverance, you will notice that they are coming to Station 4 in St. Paul, MN on November 25th.

Bosstones album drops December 8th

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones‘ highly anticipated full-length album Pin Points and Gin Joints will be released on December 8th, 2009.  This will be the band’s 8th studio album.  Bassist Joe Gittleman described the band’s approach to the album in an interview: “We really want to make a fun, upbeat record with a lot of cool ska stuff. Songs I look forward to playing at shows.” Dicky Barrett added that the songs reflect his “skewed and slightly distorted look at our world and life in general.”

Less Than Jake contest announced!

In honor of the upcoming November 25th show at Station 4 in St. Paul, MN featuring Less Than Jake, MNSka.com is announcing a new contest!  The winner will receive a pair of tickets to the show, courtesy of Mr. Chan Presents, that also includes The Casualties and The Swellers on the bill.

The contest is simple.  Email us at mnskanews@gmail.com and tell us about your favorite Less Than Jake experience.  Was there a Less Than Jake show that holds meaning for you?  Did you lose your virginity to the Losing Streak album?  Has LTJ ever saved your life or bailed you out of jail?  We are looking for any story that somehow involves Less Than Jake.  Be creative!  Send us pictures or illustrations if you have to.  The best story will score you a pair of tickets to see the band play on November 25th at Station 4, which is actually an ideal, intimate place to see their off-the-wall live show.

We at MNSka.com are having our very first contest!  Reel Big Fish and The English Beat are currently on tour together and will be playing at the MN Zoo Ampitheater on Tuesday, August 11th.  In honor of such a spectacular show, we are hosting a Reel Big Fish/The English Beat Trivia Contest!

There will be 6 different questions posted on the site where if you are the first to answer correctly, you win one of our 6 prizes, including pairs of tickets to the show, the new RBF DVD, and RBF CDs!  To answer the questions, you must register as a member of the MNSka FORUM and post your answer in the contest thread.
