About: Hardcore Crayons is a 3-piece band of fine gentlemen formed in 2006 by Dan Chizek, formally of Minnesota ska band “Chicken Poodle Soup.” He recruited his best pal Dominic Hanft on bass, and Jake Kirkman on drums, of whom eventually became a best pal as well. Both Dom and Jake were formally a part of Minnesota band “You’re In.” What started off as a pop-punk ska trio, most songs almost entirely written by Dan Chizek, Hardcore Crayons eventually evolved into an odd sort of music collaboration, in which Dom and Jake brought to the table their numerous ideas. They have been described by some as the ‘ska version of Primus.’ The band has released one album “Colors of the Wind” in 2008, of which the band views as a transitional work from their old sound into their new one. They You can hear them desperatley seeking themselves throughout this album. Currently, they are writing their little hearts out, having now found what they believe is truly what Hardcore Crayons sound like. They have tentative plans to record a 2nd full length album in late summer 2009, with global domination following shortly after said recording.
